In it, you work for a company that goes through encrypted files of the deceased to find out more information about their death for the family members. I’ve spent a couple of hours with it so far and it reminds me a lot of Her Story. I hadn’t heard of Jessika before, but it’s another FMV game that released first on other platforms. I do want to stick with it, though, and will hopefully have more impressions later. I would have gotten further with it by now if so many other games hadn’t been released this week. I can’t really say yet whether it’s worth playing if you already played the original. I’ve been playing on my iPad, so I don’t really notice the widescreen changes, but they’re still appreciated. This makes it a much more enjoyable touchscreen experience. There’s no clunky interface to worry about. You simply tap on objects and Kathy interacts with them. But I do appreciate the simplified controls. I’ve only played through about 1.5 hours so far and don’t remember enough of the little details to notice the changes. Now, the developers released a new Director’s Cut, which boasts widescreen support, new areas, new puzzles, lots of new dialogue lines, and a longer and more satisfying ending. The story got a bit confusing near the end, but the overall package was still something worth playing. I played through the original Kathy Rain when it released on iOS a few years back and I thought it was a pretty solid point-and-click adventure. I also have a giveaway here that ends tomorrow, so make sure to enter if you want a chance to get the game for free. I’m looking forward to playing through the rest of it this weekend and highly recommend checking it out. I love the chemistry between Poe and Munro and the way the game doesn’t take itself too seriously. I like the format, as each episode is about 20 minutes, so you don’t have to commit two hours in one sitting or try to figure out when to take a break. I’ve only played through the first two episodes out of six, but it’s keeping me on my toes. Then, out of the blue this week, I got an email about the game’s release. So I was thrilled when a spin-off featuring the duo was announced, then crushed when it didn’t come to iOS. My favorite characters, though, were Poe and Munro, the co-hosts of a spooky radio talk show. The Shapeshifting Detective was a campy, fun one that I enjoyed even though the story didn’t always hold up. And thankfully, a lot of them tend to get ported to iOS, even if it takes a bit of time. There’s no complicated control scheme that would be an issue with touchscreens. They’re an especially great fit for an iPad, since you usually just select choices. I’m a big fan of full-motion video (FMV) games, or interactive movies, if you will. So let’s get started! Dark Nights with Poe and Munro But that means that if you’re looking for something new to play, you’ve got a lot of good options. I’ve been enjoying pretty much everything I tried so it’s hard to choose which ones to continue with first. This week turned out to be a lot busier than I expected, with some surprise releases. Hi everyone, and welcome back to My Week Unwrapped, where I discuss all the games I’ve been playing over the last seven days.
